Who we are

Dear friends of Baum Centre Initiative:

So much has changed in recent years since the Baum Centre Initiative was founded in 2004, and for the “Baum-Centre Corridor” many of the biggest changes lie ahead. We want our neighbors and partners to have all the information they need to learn about opportunities for planning, design and development trends, analyze and evaluate competing interests, and effectively communicate their priorities and needs to public agencies and stakeholders.

BCI leadership and stakeholders have engaged in numerous conversations over the past 18 months about the purpose and structure of the organization, and we have changes to propose at our next meeting.

The proposed Baum-Centre Planning Forum will not have individual membership, nor will it act as a Registered Community Organization (RCO). The corridor is generally represented by existing community organizations. Some participate in the City’s formal RCO and DAM processes and some are waiting to see if the formal processes may change as part of the Comprehensive Planning process.

As we transition to this new organizational structure, you may have a number of questions about how the forum will function. We expect that we will learn as we go, responding to the needs of our neighborhoods.

We look forward to your participation!
