Welcome to the Baum Centre Blog! We hope this occasional blog will highlight some of the important issues in planning relevant to the corridor as it grows and evolves.

2025 will bring many new issues to the Baum Centre Corridor. With changes afoot in zoning regulations and planning policies underway, we can expect a robust mayoral primary where many of the issues around development will be debated. The historical patterns of car centric development will be in tension as development like gas stations, auto parts stores, car washes, oil changes and traditional dealerships evolve to serve new technologies, use patterns and markets. Baum Centre was the heart of that change 100 years ago and today it is on the cusp of greater change, some good and some bad. The original 2004 plan is a good example of how things have changed! In future blogs we will invite guest editors to write about the past present and future of urban development. Feel free to post ideas and volunteer to write for our blog!
